A career in cyber

Organisations, societies and economies are undergoing digital transformation, and with this the threats to individuals, data, and assets are increasing. There is a significant skills shortage in the cyber security industry to meet this challenge.

Young people that study for a career in cyber security will gain access to a job market that offers higher salaries than traditional IT roles, and a wide range of career prospects.

Cyber security as a career is challenging - you will be learning throughout your career. Cyber College Cymru gives you a head start in your career by providing you with the fundamental skills, knowledge, and understanding of the industry to progress to university or to secure an apprenticeship or degree apprenticeship.

Cyber College Cymru provides a programme that enables students to prepare for a career in cyber security.

Kirsty Williams

Minister for Education

Speaking to teachers and students at an event in Ebbw Vale's National Digital Exploitation Centre (NDEC), education minister Kirsty Williams said:

"We're always looking for ways to work with employers to get flexible, relevant learning. Cyber is about much more than staying safe online, and touches every part of our daily lives.

If we can give Welsh teenagers a new route to study cyber at higher education or go straight into the industry, we'll be giving them a real advantage in a major and growing industry."
